Operations Manager of Septic Solutions LLC

AbouT the Author: Art Nikolin

Art Nikolin is a co-founder and General Manager of Septic Solutions LLC, serving homeowners across Island, King, Skagit, and Snohomish Counties. He’s been in the septic industry since 2017. After years of hands-on field experience, the team reached a clear conclusion: septic work deserves full-time specialization. That insight led to the launch of Septic Solutions LLC in January 2025 .

Art didn’t “discover” septic systems online. He got pulled into it the same way many homeowners do: through a real problem that needed a real solution.

His earliest exposure came when his parents had to rebuild their septic system. The installer let the family help, and that hands-on experience stayed with him. Later, as Art worked in HVAC and saw more of the environmental side of wastewater, he realized septic systems aren’t just “a tank in the ground.” They’re part of what protects a home, a neighborhood, and local watersheds.

That’s why Septic Solutions LLC doesn’t split attention across unrelated trades. The company is built to be septic-focused by design.

What Art Believes Homeowners Actually Need

When a septic issue hits, most people aren’t looking for a sales pitch. They’re looking for calm, clear guidance and someone who will show up.
Art’s approach is simple:

  • People first. A septic emergency is stressful. The job is to bring back order fast.
  • Clear answers. Homeowners deserve direct explanations, not confusion or guesswork.
  • Root-cause thinking. Fix the “why,” not only the symptom you can see today.

This mindset also shaped how Septic Solutions is built operationally. The goal is always to make it easier for a homeowner to exhale and say: “Okay. I know what’s happening. I know what the next step is.”

Why Western Washington Matters to Him

Art grew up here. And if you’ve ever lived in Western Washington long enough, you know it’s not “just like everywhere else.”

Rainfall, hydraulic load, and soil conditions change how septic systems behave and what it takes to maintain them correctly. Art takes pride in learning the details that matter locally, because that’s what keeps systems working and protects groundwater over time.

He also doesn’t claim to have a finish line. His style is constant learning: reading, researching, testing, and comparing what works in the field. In his words, homeowners call because the need someone to respond when the internet answers don't fit their situation.

The Culture Art is Building at Septic Solutions LLC

Art is intentional about the kind of team homeowners meet at their front door. The company is building a culture based on integrity, responsibility, and respect for the work.

That means:

  • Training and technical knowledge (36 septic service licenses to back it up)
  • A sense of ownership so every technician understands how their role impacts the client
  • Long-term thinking, not one-time transactions

Art also wants septic work to be treated like what it is: a public health and environmental necessity. When systems fail, it isn’t just inconvenient. It can impact soil, groundwater, and the communities around us.

Where He Wants to Take the Industry

In five years, Art’s goal isn’t just growth for the company. It’s all about impact.

He wants Septic Solutions LLC to help push the septic service industry toward higher standards through training, thorough work, and the kind of customer support homeowners should expect in 2026 and beyond.

And he’s energized by the part most people miss: the gap between perception and reality. Septic work isn’t “just pumping.” There’s real technology behind modern on-site systems, real responsibility in maintaining them, and real value in doing it correctly.

For Art, that’s the point: protect the homeowner, protect the property, and protect the environment without making the process overwhelming.
