Our History
Denis, Edward, and Pavel sat down together one Sunday morning in early 2017, after church, and made a decision. Three brothers, three completely different backgrounds: Denis in septic installation, Edward in heavy excavation equipment, Pavel in HVAC systems, who saw an industry built almost entirely on pumping routes and decided to approach it from the installation side up. They called the company Earthwork Solutions LLC.
What that background meant in practice was a founding team that understood a septic system the way most service companies don't. Denis had been doing installation work since his teenage years, working alongside a septic installer on the family's own system before he was old enough to drive. Edward could move equipment in Western Washington's difficult soils the way that only years behind the controls actually teaches. Pavel brought a systems perspective, the habit of seeing how every component interacts rather than treating each one in isolation. Between the three of them, they had the bones of something the Northwest Washington market hadn't seen: a septic service company built from the ground up rather than from the pump truck in.

Three Brothers, One Sunday, and a First Job That Had to Be Done Twice
The first five months after launch, the phone was quiet. With no track record, industry designers steered clients toward established contractors, and Denis, Edward, and Pavel took any excavation work they could find, stump removal, site grading, trenching, while waiting for the septic jobs to come. The first one arrived in August 2017 in Granite Falls. A homeowner gave the young crew a chance to install a septic system for a new house, and the crew buried the tank too deep, using the wrong elevation reference point. The inspector arrived and made clear, without much ceremony, that the work showed exactly what a first project looks like. The system had to come out and go back in correctly. That job cost more to complete than it earned, and it taught the team more than a year of classroom training would have.
Advanced System Certifications That Most Competitors Chose to Skip
Within the first two years, the brothers had identified a gap in the market. Washington State permits advanced alternative treatment systems on sites where conventional gravity drain fields aren't viable (high groundwater tables, tight setbacks, shellfish protection zones, sensitive soils) and most established contractors weren't pursuing the certifications required to install them.
Denis, Edward, and Pavel pursued them aggressively, earning credentials for the NuWater BNR 500, BioBarrier membrane bioreactor, MicroFAST, and White Water systems. The first two employees joined the team in late 2018, and the team grew by five more in 2019, adding roughly ten per year from there. The technical depth built through advanced system installation changed the mix of jobs the company could take and, eventually, the depth of the diagnostic work it could do when those same systems needed service.

Four Counties, Dozens of Licenses, and a Shift Toward Service
By 2021, the primary focus had shifted from new installation to maintenance, service, and repair across an expanding service area. Snohomish County came first, followed by King County, Skagit County, and Island County, each expansion requiring licensed technicians certified under that county's specific requirements, on top of the statewide framework established by Chapter 246-272A WAC. In 2023 and 2024, the company acquired its first Freightliner M2 pump trucks, company-owned vacuum units for pump-outs and emergency response, not subcontracted or borrowed. The team's installation background meant that the shift into service work produced a different quality of diagnostic accuracy than a pumping-route operation typically achieves: the people doing the service calls understood the systems from the component level up.
Septic Solutions LLC: Five Counties, 443 Reviews, and 36 Active Licenses
In late 2024, the septic service and excavation sides of the operation separated into two distinct companies: Septic Solutions LLC and Earthwork Solutions LLC. The separation preserved the focused expertise of each while keeping the shared knowledge base intact. A new website launched in March 2025, and by December 2025 the Google profile carried the 300th five-star review, the highest average rating among septic companies in Washington State. As of mid-2026, that number stands at 443 reviews with a 4.9 average. Early 2026 brought the Whatcom County license, extending the service area to five counties. The company now holds 36 active licenses across Snohomish, King, Skagit, Island, and Whatcom Counties, credentials that represent the legal standing to operate in each county on behalf of each homeowner, maintained because the alternative is exactly what this company was built to be a different answer to.
