David had lived in the Swede Heaven neighborhood from the time he repositioned his drain field in 2007 after realizing it was close to his well. When it came time to sell, David scheduled a property transfer inspection and full pump-out before closing. The concrete tank, built in 1983, had two covers buried 12 inches below grade and had not been pumped for 6-7 years.
Our technician Mark uncovered both covers and removed the roots from the top of the tank. Then, he pumped and inspected both compartments, which showed that the first compartment had 8 inches of scum and 12 inches of sludge. The second one had 1 inch of scum and 10 inches of sludge. The sludge in the second compartment showed that solids had been carrying over from the first compartment. We also found that the tank had no outlet baffle filter, leaving the drainfield without that additional protection against suspended solids. The 250-gallon stress test proved that the relocated drain field was functioning correctly. We completed the job in a single day on June 5, 2026, for a total of $1,311.48. Snohomish County's record, never updated after the 2007 relocation, was corrected as part of the filing.
